Non-technical Short First Person

I help businesses get more out of their software — whether that means fixing what's slowing them down, building something new, or helping a team work better together. I've been doing this for over 30 years, across industries from healthcare to e-commerce, and I've found that the biggest problems are rarely technical. They're communication problems. That's why I focus on understanding your situation first, and the code second.

Non-technical Short Third Person

Michael Kimsal helps businesses and teams get more out of their software. With over 30 years of experience across industries from healthcare to e-commerce, he works with startups, small businesses, and development teams to solve real problems — whether that's speeding up a slow application, building something new, or helping a team communicate and work better. His reputation is built on honesty, clarity, and results.

Technical First Person Long

I've been building web software since the mid-1990s — through the dot-com boom, the rise of frameworks, and every wave of "this will replace everything" that has come and gone since. I work primarily with PHP, Java, and JavaScript, and I've spent serious time across the full stack: from server-side architecture to modern frontend frameworks like Vue and React, with a long history in jQuery and earlier tooling along the way.

I've worked across industries — finance, healthcare, media, e-commerce, and SaaS — as an architect, engineering lead, and technical consultant. I've designed systems for teams of two and teams of two hundred, and I became an instructor in the PHP ecosystem, which shifted how I think about the craft: less about what I can build, and more about how to explain it, teach it, and help others get genuinely good at it.

Over the years, the clearest pattern I've seen in project success has nothing to do with technology. It's communication — open, consistent, and honest. The projects that fail almost always fail there first. That shapes how I work with every client and team.

Technical First Person Short

I've been writing PHP since version 2 in 1996 and building production web applications ever since. These days I work across the full stack — PHP, Java, JavaScript, Vue, React — as a software architect and technical consultant. I've helped startups ship their first product, audited legacy codebases for performance and security, and mentored development teams on engineering best practices. If communication isn't working on a project, the code doesn't matter — so I focus on both.

Technical Third Person Long

Michael Kimsal has been building web software since the mid-1990s, with over 30 years of hands-on experience across PHP, Java, JavaScript, and the full web stack. He has worked as an architect, engineering lead, and technical consultant across a wide range of industries — finance, healthcare, media, e-commerce, and SaaS — designing systems for teams of two and teams of two hundred.

A former instructor in the PHP ecosystem, Michael developed a perspective on the craft that goes beyond writing code: he teaches it, mentors engineers, and helps organizations build lasting engineering culture. His JavaScript experience spans the full history of modern web development, from early jQuery to current Vue and React workflows.

After decades of working on projects that succeeded and projects that struggled, Michael's central conviction is that communication — not technology — is the defining factor in outcomes. He brings that belief to every consulting engagement, working closely with clients and teams to align early and stay aligned throughout.
